The Stanford Marshmallow Test

What is the Marshmallow test and just why is it an important? In the test children are sat down in front of a tasty marshmallow treat. They are told that they have a choice. They can either eat the marshmallow now or wait 15 minutes and they will receive two marshmallows instead. Which option would you choose?

Studies (which are discussed here) show that children with low regulation are more likely to struggle in school in later life, as well as have higher BMI ratings. Problems can start as early as Kindergarten but luckily if the signs are seen, parents and educators can do something about it.
