Sound Recognition
For younger children we like to keep activities simple and more artistic based. To teach the initial sounds we use a lot of tracing as the children love to follow lines and join dots. This is another good activity as it helps the children to recognise the sound has meaning.
For the letter sound h we used hay. Use a bit of glue to keep the hay in place.
The letter sound a we used apple seeds. This was then extended into a counting exercise.
For n we built nests as we were learning about animals homes. It is really important to keep learning relevant but making it cross curricular wherever possible.
