Buried Treasure

In this activity the children take turns to read sounds or words from the pirate’s coins.

It can be played in a couple different ways;

1. Real vs Fake coins.

If the children think the word that they read from the coin is real they put it in the Treasure Chest to keep, if they think it is not a real word then they chuck it in the bin.

2.Beat the Pirate

The children have to win as many coins from the pirate by reading a word correctly. If they are not able to read a word, then the pirate puts them back in his treasure chest.

Resources needed: Large editable coins / treasure chest / bin / pirate costume (optional but effective)
