5 Restaurant-Sky Bar combos For Valentines Day 2015 in Bangkok.

Too early? Not if you want to reserve that perfect table it isn’t.

Valentines day is one of those days of the year where parents should make efforts to arrange a babysitter, nanny or grandparents to look after the little ones and give themselves a well deserved evening off. Remember last year when you left everything too late and you couldn’t get that table you wanted and had to opt for plan B or decided staying in was a better, cheaper option anyway.

This year don’t miss the boat. In fact why not push the boat right out and reserve a table at one of Bangkok’s finest fine-dining restaurants. How about following that romantic dinner with one or two (a few) cocktails, taking in one of the best skylines in the city? Sound like a plan? Well now is the time to reserve that table. We have put together 5 alternative combinations of fine dining restaurants and hip sky bars that are located within walking distance of each other.

Combo 1 – Eat Me and Moon Bar

Eat Me

Alley, Silom, Bang Rak, Bangkok

02 238 0931

Eat Me

Located on Soi Convent is this beautifully decorated restaurant that couples as an art gallery. It offers a very interesting and modern, international menu with some exquisite desserts if thats your thing.

Moon Bar at the Banyan Tree Hotel

21/100 Banyan Tree Hotel, South Sathon Road, Sathon

02 679 1200

Moon Bar

A short walk away from Eat Me on Sathorn Tai Road is the Banyan Tree and although well known for its amazing views, peaceful ambiance and elegant dining, it is always worth an after dinner cocktail or two if you are in the area. Moon Bar never fails to disappoint.

Combo 2 – Le Du and Zoom Sky Bar

Le Du Restaurant and Wine Bar

399/3 Silom Soi 7, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500 Thailand

BTS Chong Nonsi

092 919-9969

LE-DU

This fantastic new restaurant and wine bar really pushes the boat out when it comes to interesting and  fun cuisine. Run by two very well trained and experienced chefs,  this place really delivers and you will not be disappointed. I would definitely recommend sampling as many of the interesting creations as possible. The four course menu for just under 1000 Baht is probably the best option. Some great wine options here as well. If like me you aren’t particularly good at matching wines to foods, they would definitely like to advise in this department.

Zoom Sky Bar at the Anantara

257/1-3 Charoennakorn Road

Thonburi, Bangkok 10600,

BTS Chong Nonsi

02 210 9000

Anantara-Zoom-ABS_2418

Close by and located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River is this very chic and stylish rooftop bar. They offer a great selection of sophisticated cocktails and wines. Book early and reserve a private area for the special night.

Combo 3 – Bo Lan and  Long Table

24 Sukhumvit 53 Alley, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110

BTS Prompong

02 260 2961

Bo.lan-bangkok-12

Making ‘one of the 50 best restaurants in Asia’ two years running and improving its 2014 position of 36 by 8 places to 28 this year, this amazing fine dining experience has to be taken. Why not splash out this Valentines evening? Actually it isn’t all that expensive at all when you consider what you get. This is fine dining at its best. The emphasis is on Thai traditional cuisine and the decor beautifully compliments it. Opt for one of the set multi-course menus complete with weird and wonderful amuse bouches.

Long Table

48 Column Tower Fl.25. Soi Sukhumvit 16, Klongtoey noe, Wattana, Bangkok 10110

02 302 2557

BTS Asoke

Long Table

One of the coolest sky rise bars with great views and amazing atmosphere. It’s not a rooftop but it doesn’t matter. Reasonably priced cocktails and if you are still peckish or you want to be a little greedy (and why not? Its valentines day. Its one night!) they offer some really tasty  and stunningly presented dishes.

Combo 4 – The Garret and Zeppelin Rooftop Bar

The Garret

99/99 Mini Showroom 6th Fl., Ekkamai 7, Sukhumvit 63, Khlong Toei Nuea, Vadhana, Bangkok 10110

02 711 6999

BTS Ekamai

The-Garret-Secret-Bistro-Bar-77756

One of a new group of gastro bars that have hit the city in recent years. I was late to visit this one after only hearing very good things. Once I finally sampled their food on an evening out with friends, I went back another 3 times in the next two weeks. The menu is inventive and exciting. I would have to recommend the trio of starters and dessert platter. And if you are a burger lover…

Zeppelin Rooftop Bar

46 Floor LeLuk Condominium, B Tower Sukhumvit Road, Phra Khanong, Bangkok, 10110

BTS Prakanong

02 116 4452

Zeppelin

Zeppelin rooftop bar and restaurant hits the right notes with a great view, affordable prices and plenty of front row seats for the sunset. With so many rooftops in Bangkok, it’s important to stand out from the crowd, and although it has an out of the way location and an uninspiring entrance via an apartment building, it’s worth a trip to see the 180 degree cityscape from the 46th floor.

Combo 5 – Honmono Sushi and Octave rooftop Bar

19 Thonglor Soi 23, 02-185-1447

Hommono Sushi

Honmono

Just had to throw a sushi restaurant into the mix and what better than this cool converted house with superb sashimi. The quality of the fish is amazing, being imported from Tokyo’s famous fish market weekly, and everything is presented, as you would expect. It is a little pricey, but once again, its Valentines Day! Treat yourself. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Bangkok all round, but then I am a huge sushi and sashimi fan.

Octave Rooftop Bar and Lounge

45/F, Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, 2 Sukhumvit Soi 57, Bangkok

BTS Thonglor

02 7970000

octave

With stunning, unobstructed 360 degree views of the city, this rooftop bar is definitely worth the short trip from Thonglor. Great service, atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks. A great place to chill and end a romantic evening out with your loved one.
