Kindergarten 2: Guided Play
Guided play is not just about playing. The toys and games are carefully selected by the teacher to either support what is being learnt in lessons or to build on basic skills such as problem solving, fine motor, or design. The children should be free to choose what they would like to play with, but guided to join in a range of activities over the week. The teacher will observe the children’s play, giving them vital information about how the child reacts to different situations and how they enjoy using different toys. It is arguably the most important part of learning.
